Plastic Jeanneret Armchair
The ‘plastic Jeanneret” armchair is a conformed copy of the iconic chandigarh lounge chair designed by Swiss architect Pierre Jeanneret. produced by the thousands for Chandigarh, India. An utopian city created by his cousin Le Corbusier, to later be completely discarded as their furniture to eventually have a revival in popularity when it got interest from interior designers fairly recently who brought this object to its now iconic status .
An even more drastic popularity spike happened afterward due to the amount of knock offs and copies present on the market now. This history resonated a lot with my prime material, the plastic chair, while its reason to exist was an utopian city to be later discarded and brought back as an iconic all time classic all of a sudden. I then decided to pay tribute to it by recreating it out of this material : plastic garden tables.
